Production diary

Production Diary 26/06/17: Put into our group Jordan Carter, Amara Blake and Charlotte Revell and chose our song which is Troublemaker by Olly Murs. 27/06/17: We chose to do roughly the first 40 seconds. Amara did the screen grabs of the shots we needed to do, this is our storyboard.   Jordan started to learn the words for the lip syncing and also learned how to create a split screen on premier as we would need this in one of the shots. Charlotte started to write the production diary and downloaded the video of Troublemaker. 28/06/17: Today Amara and Charlotte went to take photos of possible locations, when looking at the music video the most suitable locations where the Diner, a street outside and the library. Jordan found menus to use as props whilst Amara put the location shots on a power point and Charlotte updated the production diary. Music Video shots/ Caroll Vernallis

Media theorists Overview Carol Vernallis is known for her theory based on editing. Her theory is based around and on music editing. Her theory is based around 4 key concepts: narrative, editing, camera, movement. Narrative Video is a visual response to the narrative as in whatever happens visually Editing Video may disrupt or break the conventions of continuity editing. You may see: jump cuts, breaks of 30 degree rule. Cutting with beat, juxtaposed, frames and graphic matches. Camera movements/framing States that establishing shots are one of the key features. Diegesis The setting of the music video. In this music video the amount of shots total are 132.

6 different conventions 1) A relationship between the lyrics and visuals which illustrate, amplify or contradict the lyrics. 2) Thought beats: seeing the sounds ( the relationship between the music and the visuals, which illustrate, amplify or contradict). 3) Genre-related style and iconography present. 4) Multiple close ups o the main artist or vocalist: the creation of a star image to promote a recognisable brand image. 5) Intertextual references to other media texts , may be present especially in humorous videos.

Types of music video Narrative: Videos normally found with pop songs, where a story is told sally based around the lyrics of the song. Performance: When the artist or band is performing to the camera, this is common with rock and Indie genres. An example of this is Avril Lavigne's Complicated Concept:  This is common in dance music videos. An example is Kanye Wests Good Morning
